Gold Loan

A gold loan is the quickest way to raise money against ornaments you already have at home. It is the facility that needs the least paperwork, which makes it useful for needs that cannot wait — medical treatment, a wedding, cultivation expenses, a fee to be paid. The ornaments are valued at the branch itself and stay in the bank’s safe custody until the loan is closed.

What to Bring

  • The gold ornaments to be pledged
  • Proof of identity
  • Proof of address
  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • A completed application form, available at the counter

The bank must be satisfied as to the ownership of the ornaments, and loans are sanctioned to members of the bank. Membership formalities can be completed at the office on the same visit.

How It Works

  1. Come in with the ornaments and your ID to the Head Office in Thondiyil or to the Nedumpoyil or Poolakkutty branch.
  2. The bank’s appraiser checks the weight and purity of the ornaments in your presence.
  3. The loan amount is fixed and sanctioned on the basis of that valuation and the bank’s norms in force on the day.
  4. The ornaments are packed, sealed and kept in the bank’s strong room. Our offices are under 24×7 CCTV surveillance.
  5. The amount is typically disbursed the same day, depending on when you apply and on the formalities to be completed.

Repayment & Release of Ornaments

The principal and interest are repaid as provided in the scheme, and payments are accepted at the counter on any working day. As soon as the loan is fully repaid, the pledged ornaments are returned to the borrower in the same condition. The loan may also be renewed at the end of the pledge period.

Conditions pending. The amount lent per gram, the maximum loan limit, the pledge period and the appraisal charge are fixed by the bank’s Board from time to time and are not published here yet. For the terms applicable on the day, please contact the Head Office, Thondiyil, on 0490 2444 438.

Gold loans are available at the Head Office in Thondiyil and at the Nedumpoyil and Poolakkutty branches. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 5.30 pm; Saturday, 9.30 am to 2.00 pm; closed on Sunday. All our loans are listed on the Loan Schemes page.
